INSTRUMENT INVENTORY FORM (TUNERS TOO) 

Band Week 8/24:

• General Band Hype Raise Fundraiser ongoing this week. Help us meet our $15,000 goal to help purchase wind suits for the band.

• Monday, 8/24, 3:30-5:30 - Rehearsal. Make sure to pack a change of clothes and instruments. Please put a Sunday alarm to pack your instrument and change of clothes. Hydrate during the day. Drink about 60 oz of water gradually throughout the school day. Continue to hydrate when we are outside.

• Tuesday, 8/25, 3:30-5:30 Rehearsal. YayBand contest parent volunteer meeting in the Auditorium from 5:15-6PM! Parents, we need your help to make YayBand Contest successful. Please come Tuesday if you are able to volunteer or would like more information.

• Thursday, 8/27 - No after school rehearsal

• Friday, 8/28 - Game day at LeFlore kickoff 7pm at LeFlore High School

  • • Game uniform - Black polo, black shorts, and tennis shoes. No tights. Wear khaki shorts if you do not have black shorts.

    • Band Balance - Students must owe less than $150 on their band account to attend this week's game.

    • 5:00 pm - Call time! Report to band room.

    • 7:00 pm - Game kicks off

    • ~8:00 pm - Halftime - Davidson will perform first.

    • Third quarter break - Bring CASH for concessions. Concessions at LeFlore is CASH ONLY. 

    •  ~9:30 pm - Game concludes.

    • ~10 pm - Return to school, put up equipment.

• Parent volunteers still needed for this Friday to help move pit equipment and the podium! If you are chaperoning on the bus and do not mind helping with equipment, please also sign up if possible.  Sign up link here.

Upcoming:

• Friday, 9/4 - 8th/9th grade game Middle School Davidson Invitational (previously scheduled for 9/11). Middle school students will join our practice on Tuesday, 9/1. Please spread the word and encourage 8th/9th graders to visit the link and sign up if they are interested in performing with us. 

• Yay band contest Saturday, 9/26

  • •  Tuesday, 9/22 - 5:15pm-6:00pm Parent volunteer informal meetings for questions/concerns, coordinators will be in the band room to answer any questions or concerns on these two dates regarding volunteer opportunities and committee needs

    • More parent volunteers are needed to make this event successful.  Sign up to volunteer for YayBand Contest here. Thank you to those that have already signed up!

    • Sign up for food and drink donations for VIP hospitality tent and after event celebration will be available 1-2 weeks prior to the event. 

• LA Trip in March - Spots still available. Family or friends are welcome to signup. Need about ten more to make the trip happen. Visit this link for more details regarding the trip and to sign up.

Parent Reminders:

• Our YayBand Swag Store is live. Proceeds from the swag store support DHS Band and helps us to continue to grow our program. Show your off your YayBand spirit and order your swag for the upcoming school year!

• Volunteer signup links for the upcoming football season and for YayBand Contest are active under the Volunteer tab. 

• We are going to Los Angeles March 30, 2027 - April 2, 2027. There is still space available!!! For more information check out this site: Davidson HS Band Los Angeles. 

• Mr. Messer's "room" is on the MCPSS app. Please download the app on your device. If anyone cannot join the class they are supposed to be in, parent or student, email Mr. Messer and let him know. There are rooms for each period of band, color guard, and percussion.

• Check your band account for balances owed: Pay On Cut Time Now 

• Sponsor DHS band! We are looking for sponsors for our events throughout the school year. Check our Sponsor website for more details. 

Student Weekly Reminders:

• Practice minutes/private lessons form due for leadership and contest band by the last day of every month!  Minutes Submission Form 

• Contest band - 200 minutes or one private lesson

• Leadership - One private lesson per month starting in August or 400 practice minutes each month

  • • If you don't complete either for any reason it is a strike. Three strikes equals removal from leadership. 

    • The private lesson teacher should either have a music degree or have at least two years of music school. If a music teacher doesn't have a music degree some exceptions may be made but you have to clear this with a director first. 

    • Alternatively, you can do 400 practice minutes each month. Ideally, 20 minutes per week day.
